Welcome to the February 2021 Issue of CAPA Monthly News. This newsletter for members and friends of CAPA will bring you up to date information on all things CAPA for photographers all across Canada.

Call for Expressions of Interest: This is an early notice that several CAPA Board positions will be open for election at the 2021 AGM. In addition to the Officer positions (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer), there are two new positions to fill: 2nd Vice-President and Director of Communications. And the current Treasurer is retiring. If you have the skill set required and are interested in serving on the CAPA Board, please contact the Nominating Committee Chair.

Congratulations to the winners of the SmartPhone – Club Competition

This newsletter features some of the winning images from the SmartPhone Club Competition, which was open to all CAPA clubs. You can view all the winners here. There were a total of 187 images submitted from 33 clubs. Read all the latest Competition News here

The Spring issue of Canadian Camera Magazine will feature articles on photographic styles such as creative portraits, fine art and still life as well as CAPA and club news and CAPA competition results.

We welcome all story suggestions and articles from individual CAPA members. Please contact the editor Ralph Bridgland with ideas and submissions.

Online Access: Members can access the magazine online by logging in and going to the Members section of the website. CAPA Club representatives, please log in to your club’s account, go to the members section, download the PDF version of the magazine and send it your club members.



Nominations are open for the Ina Gilbert Visual Arts Award, open to any Canadian resident.

This month, we celebrate two members who first joined CAPA 40 years ago: John Gallant of Vernon BC and Rosemarie Culver of London ON, who is now an Honorary Member. We also celebrate Curtiss Lund of Red Deer AB, who first joined CAPA 35 years ago. Thank you for your long service and membership in CAPA.

10-year Memberships
This month we recognize three more members who first joined CAPA ten years ago in 2011: Wendy Royer of Edmonton, AB; Dan Takahashi of Victoria, BC and Tom Stewart of Grand Bend, ON. Thanks for your loyalty and support of CAPA.

It is with great sadness that we say farewell to Photo Life/Photo Solution Magazine. The last issue will be March 2021.



Special Recognition Medals: Do you have someone in your club who might deserve a medal this year? We have a Club Services Medal and an Excellence in Photography Medal just for you as a CAPA Club. These medals are available for your deserving club members. Read more about these medals here.

This month we recognize CAPA Club Atlantic Lighthouse Photo Group, that first joined CAPA 30 years ago. We also recognize two clubs that first joined CAPA 20 years ago: Focus Camera Club and Photo Club Vancouver. Thanks for your loyalty and long service membership in CAPA.
