[Members] video workshop

Good morning Trillium Members;

As a result of a request from a member wanting to learn more about how to use the video aspect of their camera, I said I would be happy to organize and run a two or three hour hands on basic information session.  I made a living for several years shooting and editing educational, industrial and information videos for clients in the Hamilton region and I have shot productions across Canada, the USA and France.

As long as you understand the basics of your camera, this session will take you the next step in motion and understanding the “Shoot to Edit” concept which does not exist in photography.  So, in my insanely humorous way……

The time has come the walrus said, to speak of many things.
Of medium shots, of long shots and of course, the close-up.
Of pans and zooms as well as the famous Dutch Tilt.
In a few hours of information and comradeship on the beach of sand,
Take a shot, change a scene, drink a coffee, then do it again.
Discuss, experiment, produce creative errors, listen to the walking ego,
Then do it all again in a slightly or totally different way.

Illuminations of the Art will start at the West end of Hutch’s on the beach at 11:00 am for a mere pittance of $25 Canadian.

Show up with the basic requirements needed – a product that can capture moving images, the requisite blank media, a substantial power supply, headphones or an equivalent.

Do NOT bring a tripod or unipod unless you wish to be beat to a pulp with it.  There is a very serious reason for that statement but you will have to be present to experience it.
Dress well (men are not required to wear a dress, but they may if they so desire) for the cool or cold breezes that can emanate from the large body of water to the East of Hutch’s.
Bring a substantial amount of imagination and desire (but not a streetcar with that name) and you will go home with cold fingers and a new outlook on the process of video production.

I am thinking Saturday, April 30th but I am willing to make adjustments based on your thoughts and desires and availability.

I can be reached by email at [email protected]

If you have questions or concerns as to if I am a real human and competent to adjudicate this session, worry not… nobody thinks I am competent and many are sure I am not human.  However I will answer the phone at 905-388-5840 and attempt to put your mind at ease as well as answer your queries.

No more than 2,479,631 people will be accepted for this event but personally I prefer in the region of 5 to 10 warm, intelligent bodies at once.
Sign up now.  What have you got to lose?

Regards,
Jon Soyka
