Jessica 7.5 7 7 21.5 Victor Turczynski Pictorial Gold
J3 Model shoots give complete control. subject should be sitting further away from backdrop and a shallower depth of filed used to blur the background. position of model very unflattering and her facial expression conveys her discomfort. would be better to crop up from waist and then in on both sides.

Frosty Morning 6.5 6.5 6.5 19.5 Elzbieta Piskorz Pictorial Gold
J3 composition nicely handled using the rule of thirds here. Good detail in the leaf veins and increased grain helps to convey the title's "frost" theme. Background a little busy and distracting. Could darken the areas around the main leaf to keep the viewer focused on the subject.

The Perfect Pour 7 7 8 22 Geoffrey Skirrow Pictorial Gold
J2 This image has an allure for those who like their single malt! Good example of a low-key image. Adding a thin border to this image where the edge blends into the background will help.

Ahem--What About Me 6 7.5 6 19.5 John Bunyon Pictorial Silver
J3 nice story here. be aware of mergers - bird with subject's head. lack of detail in dark areas- jacket, jeans, bird heads. increase exposure overall by at least half a stop. change your perspective to include the entire person in the image. get down low to get a different angle.

Best Buddies 7 7 7 21 Valerie Goodfellow Pictorial Gold
J3 the children facing opposite directions works work in this image, with a nice diagonal formed by the 4 eyes. the out of focus hands around the edges attracts the eye. try cropping in tighter to eliminate these out of focus area, or use a dark vignette to mask.

Seen Better Days 7.5 8.5 7.5 23.5 HM GPP Andy Langs Pictorial Gold
J1 A well composed and exposed composition. The diagonal of the boat draws the eye into the frame. The opposite diagonals of the logs form a 'Z' - like pattern that leads the viewer to the background and that threatening sky. A minor thought might be the empty sand area in the foreground, perhaps cropping up slightly would make the area less obvious. J2 Good use of perspective and wide angle. The image is sharp in its entirety and the canoe is placed at a nice oblique angle.
60Z-Zs Revisited 6.5 6.5 6 19 John Bunyon Pictorial Silver
J3 the start of a good idea. decrease the highlights on the bright white petals and bring out the shadows in the vase. move your subject away from the background in order to blur the background cloth

Irish Coast - County Kerry 7 7 7 21 Mike Mulvale Pictorial Silver
J2 Like the panoramic presentation. Lacks contrast which can be bumped up in post-processing. It is a also a good idea to check the edges of the frame and crop if necessary. In this case the bottom right corner has a small infringement that could have been cropped out.

Boo 6.5 6.5 6 19 Ewa Rakowski Pictorial Silver
J3 would have loved to give this cute kitty a higher score but the eyes and face need to be sharper.this cat was obviously in motion at the time of the shot. shutter speeds need to be high (at least 1250) when shooting cats

J3 interesting subject with great tones in his beard and craggy face. however, the selections need to be made more carefully as the fine hairline shows evidence of old background

White Peacock Butterfly 8 7 6.5 21.5 Don Poulton Nature Master
J3 darken butterfly slightly in post and apply a light vignette to to darken the corners. a shallower depth of field would help to blur the background flowers more. slight desaturation of greens would help.

Ambush Bug Pair 7 9 6.5 22.5 Geoff Dunn Nature Gold
J1 Both insects and the 'flower' they're on have been rendered sharply. The background is a complementary shade with no distractions. Cropping some of that upper empty area might improve the overall composition keep the viewer's eyes on the subject matter.
